The 30th Negros Trade Fair has gone a
long way from its 1985 inception. During the first trade fair, there were a
smaller number of participants with a product line of indigenous handicrafts,
baskets and woodcrafts with a smattering of foodstuffs. It was the beachhead
needed so further expand and increase the participation of the people of Negros
in the trade fair.
The resources and raw materials that were utilized
were as diverse as the products. From using weeds, bamboos, wood, twigs,
rattan, sea shells, glass, fruits and spices. The end result is a plethora of
goods that represents the culture of Negros and its people. The offerings
ranged from handwoven baskets, bags, capiz serving trays, furniture, lighting
fixtures, barongs, fashion accessories, innumerable food items and even solar
panels.
The 30th Negros Trade Fair showcases the
creativity and ingenuity of the people of Negros. Having adapted its products
according to the changing dynamics of the market, the inventiveness of the
people has come to the fore. This trade fair is a testament to inclusiveness
wherein such diverse products are all
found under one roof that were crafted and made by the people of Negros. That
is Unity in Diversity.
The 30th Negros Trade Fair is from September
16 to September 20, 2015 at the Glorietta Activity Center.
The Philippines is replete with fiestas and
festivals. Each region and ethno-linguistic group has its own traditions and
manners in celebrating its arts and culture. There are notable ones conducted
in provinces and cities all over the archipelago. But not all will export them
to the National Capital Region.
The Negros Trade Fair is one of those who bring
Negros to Manila. They have been doing it annually since 1985. Now running on
its 30th year, the Negros Trade Fair is a window to Negros. The
trade fair depicts its people. By looking, touching and even tasting its
products, one gets delightfully acquainted with the Negrense.
There is no better way to get to know a land and
its people than to savouring and enjoying its products. One gets to see
woodcrafts, accessories, clothes, furniture, food and foodstuffs and even a
manufacturer of solar panels under one roof. Such creativity and diversity
identifies the Negrense.
That is why the Association of Negros Producers
export said products that not only caters to material needs and wants but also
gives an idea on what encompasses the people of Negros. It is like a pocket
Mardi Gras on the month of September.
Experience Negros and its people via the 30th

16 – September 20, 2015.

The annual Negros Trade Fair, now on its 30th
year was featured in an article in the prestigious Advertising and Marketing
Philippines publication. Citing the remarkable resilience and perseverance of
the Negrense in the face of adversity, the article discloses the origins and
inspiration of the then nascent Association of Negros Producers (ANP).
The ANP, chose to harness the greatest resource of
Negros, its people. Combining newly learned skills, indigenous materials,
creativity and an indomitable spirit, the ANP launched its first Negros Trade
Fair at the Makati Carpark in 1985. Each year the Negros Trade Fair managed to
increase its participants, customers and product lines.Products ranging from baskets to mats,
woodcrafts, furniture and foodstuffs, the trade fair managed to bring and
highlight the culture and arts of Negros to Manila. It is therefore no surprise
that it has already remained as an awaited event every year.
