Unity in Diversity
The 30th Negros Trade Fair has gone a
long way from its 1985 inception. During the first trade fair, there were a
smaller number of participants with a product line of indigenous handicrafts,
baskets and woodcrafts with a smattering of foodstuffs. It was the beachhead
needed so further expand and increase the participation of the people of Negros
in the trade fair.
The resources and raw materials that were utilized
were as diverse as the products. From using weeds, bamboos, wood, twigs,
rattan, sea shells, glass, fruits and spices. The end result is a plethora of
goods that represents the culture of Negros and its people. The offerings
ranged from handwoven baskets, bags, capiz serving trays, furniture, lighting
fixtures, barongs, fashion accessories, innumerable food items and even solar
panels.
The 30th Negros Trade Fair showcases the
creativity and ingenuity of the people of Negros. Having adapted its products
according to the changing dynamics of the market, the inventiveness of the
people has come to the fore. This trade fair is a testament to inclusiveness
wherein such diverse products are all
found under one roof that were crafted and made by the people of Negros. That
is Unity in Diversity.
The 30th Negros Trade Fair is from September
16 to September 20, 2015 at the Glorietta Activity Center.
