Maxima Madera, chairperson of the 26th Bulawan Awards, said the activity recognizes the innovativeness of Negrense producers.
It is also a venue for showcasing unique and truly Negros products that will further invite both local and foreign tourists to come to the province, Madera added.

“Every year we really have to come up with new designs and concepts not only for local, but also for international markets,” she said. “In terms of innovation, local producers are really challenged (in terms of) the availability of raw materials and high labor cost.”
The 26th Bulawan Awards, themed “Biodiversity in Tourism,” is anchored on the efforts of the provincial government to promote tourism while also promoting the protection and conservation of environment.

Aside from the awarding of outstanding producers, this year’s event also includes a week-long Bulawan Fair, where about 30 producers from different industry sectors displayed and sold their products at the mall.

“This is also a way of encouraging more entrepreneurs, especially the new ones, to join the association and participate in various events it organizes,” Madera said.
